Veterans Day

October 11, 2024

Welcome to Day 10 of promoting my next release - Time for Love. I’ve been working on this collection for about four years. The romantic collection has twenty short stories - ten about how a couple got engaged and ten about how a couple met. The story I’m going to talk about today is Veterans Day, a short story taking place on Veterans Day 2012.

Taylor is a yoga instructor who gave up her Hollywood dreams. Now her dream is for her boyfriend to come home and marry her. Archer is a marine, serving his country overseas. When will he come home and marry her? You’ll have to read the 13th story in the collection to find out.

How does this story relate to other stories in the gagengirl universe?

Taylor was the sister of a character in what I like to call my “Hallmark” story. I put her in San Diego and knew she was going to be a lead character in a future story. Taylor reveals what happened in that story that you need to know.

Danni Weatherly and her daughter, who are in Taylor’s yoga class, were created for an older story.

Taylor joins her friend and theoretical future sister-in-law Caitlin McKinnon Bishop at the archery range. One of Caitlin’s sisters-in-law was created for another story that I created way more characters than were necessary.

Taylor’s love interest Archer and future sister-in-law Caitlin are siblings with Spring Showers’ Hunter McKinnon.

What can you share about Taylor?

Taylor studied to be an actor and spent several years trying to make it in Hollywood. But after being turned down for roles for superficial reasons, she finally gave up and moved back home to San Diego. She became a yoga instructor, which she finds much more satisfying. When she’s not teaching a class or taking care of the dogs, Sarge and Major. she’s at an archery range.

And what can you share about Archer?

Archer is a United States Marine, stationed overseas for most of his service. When Taylor decided to move back to San Diego, he suggested that she move into his house.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about this story?

It’s a romance, the story of how Taylor and Archer got engaged. Because of when it takes place, it is more somber than some of the other stories in the collection.

Do you know which story you’ll tell us about tomorrow?

Yes. Tomorrow’s story is Bacon & Eggs.
